Wow. After reading that, I have no clue how Disco Dan, the man with a plan, can keep his job. Be it at the end of the season if so, at the very least.

That is quite the optimistic outlook as none of those names heading to Rochester would appear to provide much greater hope than some of the players already there. Instead, we should be wondering why GMTM chose Nylander over Sergachev (other than the simple fact that Nylander would be AHL-eligible). Not saying Nylander won't be a nice player for Buffalo in 2-3 years, but the organizational depth on the blue line NEEDED a player with Sergachev's upside potential / skill. Not to mention, defense prospects seem to carry greater trade value right now, as well. We should also be hoping that another year in the AHL will better prepare Nylander for the NHL and that a healthy season next year helps Fasching rebound. I am floored that there hasn't been more coverage on his regression this season... Hopefully a pass being given for his lingering groin injury. Bailey seems to be regressing by the game in Buffalo and Baptiste seems to have slowed down (losing motivation) as others continue to be promoted around him. Murray said it himself after the trade deadline, there is no reason for Rodrigues being the best player on the ice for the Sabres in any game.

my mock draft pick for buffalo:

8. Buffalo Sabres--D, Mikhail Sergachev. Buffalo was ready to select Jacob Chychrun until sources revealed he hurt his shoulder giving Terry Pegula a high-five at a family cookout in Florida. You could feel the weight of the moment as Chychrun's double cheeseburger went flying into Kim Pegula's Strawberry Daquiri. The incident threw everyone off guard causing Murray's brain to cramp and he ends up doing the unthinkable by drafting the Russian defenseman who inexplicably dropped to them. There's no truth to the rumor that former head scout Kevin Devine had Murray in a headlock until the blue faced GM capitulated by shouting out Sergachev's name instead of "uncle" at the same gathering.

It's better you realize the guy is an awful coach now than waiting until you're a legit contender.

Still pretty happy with the Nylander draft. We do need D more than forwards, but if Kane were to walk, we are simply depleted on the left side. Nylander played amazing in the WJC's as well and usually falls in the top5 in most prospect rankings now.

Sergachev is talented, but seems to be pretty eratic. He reminds me of Subban when I watch him, his own players don't know when passes are coming or when he's going to rush. No rhyme or reason to it. He is very talented, so with proper coaching that could change, but I think Nylander is as much of a sure thing as you can get and plays a position we may very well need shortly too.

Wow, I totally forgot we passed on Sergachev. Thought he went the pick before us.

Jesus that might end up a mistake. Still like Nylander

it sucks because if we're talking about a draft where it would've been prudent to move up and grab a d-man it would've been 2015.

2016 and 17 imo havent produced anything near close to what werenski, hanifin and provorov have done.

i dont think he's going to be good enough offensively to cover up the defensive flaws.

This was actually a pretty good blog, Nice work Michel.

this I ask tho, is spending extra money on scouting, and adding more directors and scouts a good investment when one of those guys is Kevin Pendergast?
